Before plastic - a display of handmade household items at Japan House London https://www.instagram.com/p/CqLu5nNos5B/ Such a treat to see this ornamental braid study piece from Hōryū-ji Temple at Japan House London's new Kumihimo by Domyo exhibition tonight. Perfect time to share Master Shiki's famous persimmon haiku: Me (Jodie) outside Westminster Abbey's St Margaret's Church - my earliest Australian convict grandma on Dad's paternal side was baptised here in 1829. #London #Australia #Tasmania #convict #history Just before Christmas last year, Japan House London hosted this fantastic lecture by Urasenke Tea Master Kimura Sōkei on the history of tea production and consumption in China and Japan followed by a short tea ceremony. Last year in October, before the weather got really cold, we went out to the Knitting & Stitching Show at the incredible Alexandra Palace in Alexandra Park. Was a great day out, left feeling very inspired. Mili @mimead0w got some lovely thread, beads and ribbon, some of which she has used to make her felt rabbits. Alexandra Park is a gorgeous spot for a picnic, so that's exactly what we did. I have uploaded these photos from my personal collection. Some are from when we lived in Malaysia and others from visiting family in Yunnan, China. Old photos always bring back interesting memories. Sometimes 民句 folk ku just roll on out and other times it might take a bit of sitting with images and thoughts that wish to write themselves in time. Few more photos from Re:Collect exhibition at Museum of the Home in Hoxton London. The last photos are of embroidered slipper tops. Was thinking some of these items may trigger some cute folk memories that could invoke cherished 民句 folk ku. #museum #home #memory #folklore #poetry More photos from Museum of the Home in Hoxton London. A place that is sure to bring a few old memories to the surface. #museum #home #folklore #folklife #memories #poetry #inspiration
